We're keeping an eye on a potential winter storm across the Southwest. A low pressure system with cold air will dive down to Arizona and New Mexico by the end of the week. The storm will combine with an upper level low and bring the potential for heavy snow in the mountains. However, it is looking like enough cold air will be be present to bring snow below 5,000 feet. In the lower elevations light to occasionally moderate rain will fall, especially across Arizona. The storm is expected to impact the area on Thursday into early Friday before pulling out into the Plains on Friday night. There is a lot of uncertainty with this system once it enters the Plains. Some models show this intensifying into a blizzard across the Plains and Western Great Lakes while others have it reaching the Northeast and intensifying off the coast.
